How NFL Survivor works
The basic rules are simple:
- Pick one NFL team to win each week.
- If they win, you survive.
- If they lose, you take a strike or are eliminated.
- Once you use a team, you can't use them again.
- Keep picking until one player is left.
Your commissioner can customize deadlines, strikes, missed picks, and other rules for the pool.
Choose your rules
Every Survivor pool is a little different. Comped lets you choose the rules that work for yours.
Deadlines: Lock picks at each game's kickoff, at the first game of the week, each day's first game, or Sunday at 1 PM ET.
Strikes: Play traditional one-and-done Survivor or give players multiple lives.
Missed picks: Decide whether a missed deadline means a strike or an automatic pick.
Joining: Choose when your pool closes to new players.
Every pick matters
Players can make or change their picks until your pool's deadline. Once a pick locks, it can't be changed.
Before kickoff, picks stay private. After they lock, everyone can see who picked what.
Comped also keeps track of every team each player has already used, so nobody can accidentally pick the same team twice.
Common questions
What happens if I pick the wrong team?
You can change your pick any time before it locks. Once the deadline passes, your pick is final.
Can I use the same team twice?
No. Once you've used a team, you can't pick them again that season. Comped keeps track for you.
What happens if I forget to pick?
That depends on your pool's settings. A missed pick can count as a strike, or your pool can make an automatic pick for you.
When do picks lock?
Your commissioner chooses the deadline. Picks can lock at each game's kickoff, at the start of the week, or at a set time like Sunday 1:00 PM ET. Once a pick locks, it can't be changed.
Is there a player limit?
No. Run a pool with a few friends or hundreds of players.
Survivor pools outgrow free tiers fast, so it's worth seeing how sites handle caps before week 1.
How do people join?
Share your pool link. Players enter their name and start picking. No account required.
Does the pool continue through the playoffs?
Yes. The playoffs are the next weeks on the schedule and score like any other week. Your commissioner can end the season whenever your group is done.
Can anyone see my picks before kickoff?
No. Picks stay private until they lock — every pick is sealed until its game starts, and other players can't see it. When you save, you get a short receipt code (XXXXX-XXXXX) to post in the group chat; once picks lock, anyone can check that yours match it.

Do my friends need an account?
No. Players can join and make picks without creating an account.
Does Comped handle any fees or prizes?
No. Comped runs the pool itself: picks, deadlines, scoring and standings. Anything outside the pool is handled separately by your group.
Can this be changed after Week 1?
Most of it. Deadlines, strikes, missed-pick rules and who can join can all be changed from Settings during the season. The game itself is fixed once the pool is created.
Can I run Survivor with strikes?
Yes. Play traditional single-elimination Survivor, or give everyone one or two strikes before they're out.
Can picks be changed after kickoff?
No. Once a pick locks, it can't be changed. Before then, players can change their picks as often as they want. Every save is recorded in an append-only log, so a pick changed after the fact would show up as a mismatch.
