NFL margin pool — pick a team, bank the blowout

Pick one team a week and bank their margin of victory when they win — not their score, how much they won by. No elimination — a bad week just banks zero and you keep playing for the season-long total.

How NFL Margin works

  1. 01

Pick NFL Margin and name your pool. You get a commissioner link — keep that one.

  2. 02

Share the plain link with your group. Friends join with just a name.

  3. 03

Each week, everyone picks one team they think will win — and win big.

  4. 04

You can only use each team once for the whole season, so save your best blowouts wisely.

  5. 05

Win, and you bank the number of points that game was decided by. Lose, tie, or miss the week, and you bank zero — but you're still in it.

Commissioner settings

Your pool, your rules.

Sensible defaults out of the box, with the settings commissioners actually use. Change any of it mid-season — Comped re-scores instantly.

  • Allow teams to be reused across weeks instead of once per season.
  • Deduct the margin on a loss instead of banking zero, for a sharper pool.

Our free NFL margin pool, where every point matters

Pick one team each week and earn points based on how much they win by. A 31-17 victory is worth 14 points. A 24-21 win is worth just three. The challenge isn't simply picking winners. It's finding the teams that are about to dominate.

One late touchdown can send you up the standings whereas, a meaningless field goal can cost you first place. In an NFL margin pool, every point matters until the final whistle.

Create your pool, share a private link with your friends, family, or coworkers, and let us handle the scoring automatically. There's nothing to download, no spreadsheets to update, and no accounts required.

How NFL margin pools work

NFL margin pools are easy to learn but difficult to master. Every week, you'll choose one NFL team and earn points based on their margin of victory.

Here's how it works:

  1. Create your pool and invite your group.
  2. Pick one NFL team each week.
  3. If your team wins by 14 points, you earn 14 points.
  4. If your team wins by three points, you earn three points.
  5. If your team loses, you'll score zero points unless your pool uses negative scoring.
  6. The player with the most points at the end of the season wins.

Some pools allow you to pick the same team multiple times, while others only let you use each team once. Your group decides the rules before the season starts.

Why margin pools are different from pick'em and survivor

In an NFL pick'em pool, all that matters is whether your team wins. In our NFL survivor pool, you're simply trying to stay alive for another week. NFL margin pools are different.

You're not rewarded for finding winners. You're rewarded for finding the biggest wins.

The Chiefs winning by three points and winning by twenty-four points count exactly the same in survivor, but in a margin pool, those extra points can completely reshape the standings.

That means you'll watch games differently. You'll care about fourth-quarter touchdowns, garbage-time drives, and whether a team decides to run out the clock or keep attacking.

Choose your league's rules

Every group plays a little differently, which is why NFL margin pools can be customized to match your style.

Want more strategy? Turn off team reuse and force everyone to save their best teams for later in the season.

Want higher stakes? Enable negative scoring, where a 28-14 loss costs players 14 points instead of simply giving them zero.

Whether you're playing with your office, your fantasy football league, or your family group chat, you can decide which rules make the season the most fun.

See how NFL margin scoring works

Let's say you pick the Eagles and they beat the Giants 34-20. You'll earn 14 points.

Your friend picks the Ravens, who win 24-21. They'll earn three points.

Another player picks the Lions, who lose 27-17. In a standard pool, they'll score zero points. If negative scoring is enabled, they'll lose 10 points instead.

After Week 18, the player with the highest total wins the pool.

Common questions

How does scoring work?

Pick one team each week. If they win, you bank the margin they won by — the final score gap, not the points they scored. If they lose or tie, or you miss the week after it's closed, you bank zero for that week by default (the commissioner can turn on a setting that banks the negative margin on a loss instead). There's no elimination, so everyone plays the full season and the highest running total wins.

Do my friends need to create an account?

No. Joining and picking only needs a name.

Does the pool handle money?

No, never. We track picks and banked margins only — your group settles any stakes privately.

What if I lose my link?

Sign in with the email you used and your pools and entries come back automatically. Without an email on file, the link itself is the only way back in, so hang onto it.

Can I reuse a team I already picked?

Not by default — each team can only be picked once across the whole pool. The commissioner can turn on a setting that allows reusing teams instead.

What happens if a game gets canceled after I pick it?

It banks zero and doesn't count against your one use of that team — a canceled game never costs you a pick.

Can picks be changed after kickoff?

No. Every save gets a fingerprint you can post in your group chat before kickoff — after that, anyone can check your revealed pick against it, so nobody (including us) can quietly change what you picked.
