Double Da Vinci Diamonds is an art-themed slot based on the works of Leonardo da Vinci. Released by High 5 Games in 2011, this title is a sequel to Da Vinci Diamonds.
Leonardo was a man of many talents, including architecture, art, music, sculpting, and writing. This slot focuses on his legendary paintings. It also includes various precious gems, which are common in many slots.

High 5 did an excellent job of fashioning Double Da Vinci Diamonds to look like one of Leonardo’s paintings. The background is set on the banks of a river, with a rugged countryside in the distance. It looks similar to the landscape in The Mona Lisa.
Three of the symbols are replicas of Leonardo’s most famous works, including The Mona Lisa, Portrait of a Musician, and Lady with an Ermine. These paintings come in both single and double symbols, with the latter counting as two icons in one space. There are also ruby, emerald, sapphire, topaz, pearl, wild icon, and free-games symbols.
The graphics are a divisive subject. We like Double Da Vinci Diamonds’ old painting look, but players who enjoy modern-3D slots graphics won’t appreciate the visual aspect.
The music is nothing to get excited about, with a generic tune playing whenever the reels spin. The sound effects during wins are also cliché. However, we give the game credit for offering a few different sounds during payouts.
Betting options and paying combinations
Double Da Vinci Diamonds includes five reels and 40 lines. Betting options vary depending on whether you’re playing in free or real-money mode.
Free mode involves fixed lines, but you can adjust the line wager from $0.02 to $5.00. Real-money play lets you play one, ten, 20, 30, or 40 lines. The lowest bet per line is $0.01, or $0.40 per spin. The highest bet per line is $1, or $40 per spin.
Unfortunately, this game doesn’t offer many other options. Autoplay is not available, which means you need to manually hit the spin button every time. You can turn the sound on and off, but this is a standard feature in any slot game.
The return-to-player (RTP) for Double Da Vinci Diamonds is 94.9%, which is average for an online slot. Mona Lisa delivers the highest win, offering 5,000 credits for ten symbols. This prize is average for a top standard payout. Lady with an Ermine and Portrait of a Musician pay 1,000 and 750 credits, respectively, for ten symbols.
What jackpots are available in Double Da Vinci Diamonds?
No jackpot is available in this game, which is especially disappointing considering that the top payout is a mediocre 5,000 credits.
However, this game does include a “tumbling reels” feature, which enables you to form extra wins in a round. You may not be able to get a huge single win, but you can earn large payouts for an entire round.
Additional features and bonus rounds
This slot makes up for the absence of a jackpot with a few interesting features. Scatter payouts, tumbling reels, double symbols, and free spins all give you an opportunity to win big.
The wild icon is a diamond-filled game logo that only appears on reels two, three, and four. It substitutes for everything except the free-games icon. It automatically counts as a double symbol whenever filling in for one of the three portraits. The wild symbol doesn’t offer any wins by itself.
The free-games icon is a scatter symbol that only appears on reels one, two, and three. Its main function is to trigger free spins by appearing anywhere three times within the first three reels. This icon also offers a scatter payout worth 20x your total bet when triggering the bonus.
You randomly earn from 6-16 free spins when landing three free-games logos. Another wild symbol is used in place of the free-games icon during this bonus.
The three paintings appear as both single and double symbols. A double icon counts as two symbols within the same space. This feature lets you form payouts with 3-10 icons.
Symbols from winning combinations vanish, allowing those above them to fall into their place. The game then evaluates the lines to determine whether any new payouts have been formed.
Tumbling reels continue until there aren’t any more new prizes. No limit is placed on the number of wins that you can earn through tumbling reels.
Who is Double Da Vinci Diamonds ideal for?
Based on the low bets and unique theme, Double Da Vinci Diamonds will interest low-budget players and art aficionados. Betting options can be adjusted to a single line and a $0.01 bet per line. Anybody who appreciates historic art will enjoy the authentic-looking paintings.
Those who seek games with lots of options and modern graphics should avoid this slot. Players aren’t given much control over the gameplay beyond the basic betting options. The graphics are too vintage for fans of cutting-edge visuals.
Other similar games from High 5
High 5 appears to admire Leonardo da Vinci and other renowned artists. They feature five different slots based on Leonardo as well as games about Michelangelo and Vincent Van Gogh.
Da Vinci Diamonds kicked off this artist series upon its release in 2010. It’s similar to Double Da Vinci Diamonds, with its pitch-black background as the main difference. The other Leonardo-themed games are more of the same, only with different paintings and settings.
Michelangelo is unique in that it revolves around sculptures instead of paintings. However, the gameplay and overall feel are the same as other High 5 art slots.
Plenty of features: This slot offers an excellent variety of extras, including tumbling reels, double symbols, free spins, and scatter payouts. The tumbling reels and double icons are a great combination that can lead to big wins in any round.
Low bets: Both the line bet and paylines can be set to the absolute minimum. Playing for just $0.01 per spin isn’t exactly thrilling, but the option is available nonetheless.
Interesting theme: Double Da Vinci Diamonds is part of High 5 Games’ unique line of art slots. The setting and paintings do an excellent job of selling the theme.
No jackpot: This game doesn’t include a fixed or progressive jackpot. Furthermore, the maximum prize is only 5,000 credits. Players must rely on consecutive payouts from tumbling reels to hit significant wins.
Polarizing graphics: We like that High 5 included some of Da Vinci’s art and created a vintage background. However, this won’t appeal to those who prefer cartoonish or 3D graphics.
Generic music: The good news is that Double Da Vinci Diamonds doesn’t feature annoying music. The bad news is that the music doesn’t add anything to the experience. Every sound in this game is as generic as it gets.
- Graphics and design – 3.5/5: This category comes down to personal preference. Da Vinci Double Diamonds is unlikely to thrill anybody with its visual aspect. However, the graphics do a great job of conveying the art theme.
- Sound effects – 2/5: The music and sound effects don’t distinguish this slot from other games. The only reason why the rating isn’t lower is that Double Da Vinci Diamonds features a wide variety of sounds.
- Jackpot value – 1.5/5: This slot doesn’t offer a jackpot, and its highest payout of 5,000 credits is unimpressive. Huge wins only come from hitting an incredible payout streak through the tumbling reels.
- Replay value – 3.5/5: Double Da Vinci Diamonds doesn’t impress with its sound quality or top payouts. Nevertheless, it offers plenty of replay value thanks to its interesting theme, tumbling reels, double symbols, and low bets.
